Hartley Bay Road Closure

UPDATE

13 km west of Hwy 69/400 and 1.5 km from Hartley Bay Marina

Hartley Bay Road is now open.

Please exercise caution when driving in the area, as the crossing is a single lane bridge.

A Temporary bridge has been installed, and guard rails and safety signs are being installed at this time.

The road will be open to traffic by 6 pm today (July 25).

Please exercise caution and patience when driving over the bridge, as it is 15 feet wide and only one lane.

The road washout that occurred at approximately 8 am on Wednesday, July 24 was due to a large beaver dam collapse following a heavy rain event.

The OPP, EMS and Fire Services are all aware and being updated by the Emergency Management Coordinator. Emergency evacuation plans are in place in the event that they are required.

The Municipality is working diligently to rectify the situation and updates will be posted as further information is available.
